SEQUOIA RIVER ECHOES

by

BILL FONTANA

A network of accelerometers were mounted on the trunks of 3000 year old Giant Sequoia trees.

They picked up the resonating echoes of the Kaweah River in Sequoia National Park.

In January 2020 this was exhibited as a 16 channel sound sculpture in the atrium of the Martin Gropius Bau in Berlin.

I would like to realize more sculptural sound installations of this work in suitable spaces.

This new video version is constructed from layered video stills of the trees and a collage of the flowing Kaweah River.

It could be experienced as a large scale projection with 16 channels of sound or on a screen with stereo sound.
