Sound Sculptures for Architectural Spaces - 1981 to 2018

by Bill Fontana

Since the late 70's I have been creating installations that use sound as a sculptural medium to interact with and transform our perceptions of architectural settings. These have been installed in public spaces and museums around the world.

On this page the projects are in descending chronological order beginning with Landscape Sculpture with Fog Horns (San Francisco 1981) and ending with Sonic Mappings (Rome 2014). Each of these projects explored different ways to redefine, extend, create anew and activate the acoustic meaning of a built environment.
